How the Organizing Began
In late 2015, after Donald Trump announced his presidential campaign, I immediately recognized the importance of the movement that was beginning to take shape. I wanted to be part of it. Through Robert Seiden, a former federal prosecutor with whom I had worked for several years, I was introduced to Corey Lewandowski, then head of the Trump campaign.
That connection led to discussions about helping build grassroots support for the campaign in Colorado. Acting quickly, I created a volunteer sign-up website and began recruiting supporters across the state. From late 2015 into early 2016, I traveled throughout Colorado speaking at grassroots meetings, connecting with activists, and building an early volunteer network.
Working independently and at my own expense, I focused on laying the groundwork for a statewide effort that would later help drive volunteer engagement, public visibility, and the April 15, 2016 Colorado State Capitol rally.
Catalyst for the Rally
In March 2016, I ran as a Trump delegate for the Colorado Republican State Convention. During that process, it became increasingly clear that there was a significant disconnect between the strength of grassroots support for Donald Trump and the way that support was being reflected by elements of the Colorado Republican Party leadership.
Many Trump supporters felt that their voices were being minimized in the convention process, despite the growing energy and enthusiasm for the campaign across the state. That moment reinforced my belief that a visible public demonstration of support was needed.
The purpose of the rally was to publicly display the strength of the grassroots movement behind Donald Trump in Colorado. It was designed to give supporters a voice, bring attention to the level of enthusiasm building across the state, and demonstrate that the campaign had a large and motivated base of voters who wanted to be heard.
Rally Promotion and Mobilization
Once the decision was made to move forward with the rally, promotion became a coordinated grassroots effort. Support for the event was built through a combination of my volunteer sign-up website, outreach connected to the Trump campaign, and local media exposure generated through interviews and public discussion.
I used my volunteer website to communicate with supporters and help spread awareness of the event. At the same time, the Trump team assisted with event coordination and logistical support, helping ensure that the rally could be properly staged at the Colorado State Capitol.
I also worked to generate additional visibility through interviews with local television and news outlets, which helped bring broader public attention to the rally and the growing grassroots support behind Donald Trump in Colorado.
Together, these efforts helped mobilize supporters from across the state and contributed to the strong turnout at the April 15, 2016 rally.
Address to the Crowd
At the rally, I served as the sole speaker, delivering a speech of approximately 30 minutes to supporters gathered at the Colorado State Capitol.
My goal was to inspire and unify the crowd while giving voice to the grassroots movement that had been building across Colorado. The speech emphasized conservative values, Donald Trump’s strong and direct leadership style, the need for unity within the Republican Party, the importance of getting out the vote, and the need to remain faithful, engaged, and confident in the cause.
The message was intended to energize supporters and reinforce that they were part of a growing movement whose voice deserved to be heard.
Impact of the Rally
The rally accomplished its central purpose: it publicly demonstrated that Donald Trump had significant and motivated grassroots support in Colorado. It gave supporters an opportunity to be seen and heard, brought greater visibility to the movement, and reinforced that this was not a small or isolated effort, but a growing statewide movement.
Media Attention
In the days following the rally, I participated in several interviews with local media discussing the event and explaining why supporters across Colorado, including myself, were backing Donald Trump. Only one of those interviews remains available today, preserved through a home video recording of the original broadcast. That recording is included below as part of this page’s documentation of the grassroots effort.
Note: Audio quality is limited because this is a home recording of the original broadcast.

Closing Perspective
In the months that followed, the Trump campaign’s structure in Colorado changed direction under Paul Manafort, and my direct involvement in political organizing came to an end. Nevertheless, the work I carried out over roughly six months helped build early grassroots momentum in Colorado through volunteer recruitment, statewide outreach, media visibility, and the April 15 rally at the Colorado State Capitol. In that respect, I believe the effort made a positive contribution to the campaign by helping demonstrate the depth of support that existed across the state.
